The RD-0078-0201 from Silicon Labs is a ZigBee occupancy sensor reference design kit. It provides quickest path to a next generation wireless product. The reference design addresses major challenges of a wireless sensor design, characterizing the real world sensor performance, overcoming rigorous challenges of wireless networking and accelerating through electronic certifications. It features an ultra low power design encompassing both hardware to software and yields an estimated battery life of more than 5 years. It also features the Silicon Labs ZigBee stack, so it is proven to scale with the most demanding building automation systems. The software is implemented on ARM Cortex-M4, Mighty Gecko SoC providing an upgrade path for dual protocol or changing protocols altogether. It based on the ZigBee HA 1.2 standard focuses on occupancy sensors that can be used for occupancy and motion sensing. This ZigBee occupancy sensor reference design kit features Silicon Labs' EFR32MG wireless MCU.
